Michelle has her
own Got
Milk? Ad! The ad first appeared in magazines in March
2005. The ad has appeared in quite a few magazines, including
Seventeen,
Elle Girl,
Cosmogirl,
Teen People, and J-14.
Michelle presented
the 2004
SAMMY awards (Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year)
to 25 high school seniors on June 25, 2004.
The next year,
Michelle was being used in promotions for the 2005 SAMMY awards.
In the November 16, 2004 edition of
USA Today,
there was a two page ad for the 2005 SAMMY awards in the main
section of the paper. Michelle is one of six athletes pictured.
Each athlete's picture is large, and are cropped from larger
"Got Milk" ads. The other athletes in the ad are Andy Roddick
(tennis), Grant Hill (basketball), Brad Johnson (football),
Mia Hamm (soccer) and Tony Hawk (skateboarding).
At the time this
appeared, it wasn't known that Michelle would have her own
"Got Milk" ad, but that was the hope! Luckily, that turned
out to be the case.
The same day as
the USA Today ad, there was a press release, which stated
that Michelle would be part of a "celebrity panel of
milk mustache athletes" that would select the SAMMY winners.
The SAMMY awards
are awarded by the National Milk Mustache "got milk?" Campaign.
The $7,500 college scholarship is awarded to high school athletes.
The recipients are honored for athletics, academics, leadership
skills, and community service. The winners appear in their
own milk mustache ad, which will run in USA Today in June
2005. They will
also attend a special awards ceremony at The Milk House at
Disney's Wide World of Sports, and join other SAMMY winners
in the Disney Wide World of Sports SAMMY Hall of Fame.
Update!
In the June 24, 2005 edition of USA Today, the winners of
the 2005 SAMMY awards appeared in their own milk mustache
ad. Along the side of this ad were the same cropped pictures
of the Got Milk? ads that appeared in the original SAMMY ad,
including Michelle.
