Check
out this clip from Michelle's new program, The
Miraculous Mandarin, from the Grand Prix Final:
The
Grand Prix Final has completed, with the Super Finals taking place
early Saturday morning (east coast time.) Michelle skated to The
Miraculous Mandarin, a program she was skating to for the
first time. As always, I won't post the results on this page in case
you want to wait to see it on TV. Find out
the final
results. Then, check out the following articles and pictures from
the super final.

Don't forget to watch
Sunday's broadcast of the GPF to see the ladies competition!
The
ladies short program at the Grand Prix Final took place on Friday,
and the first long program took place on Saturday. For her first long
program, Michelle skated to the free skate she has used this season,
Song of the Black Swan. As always,
I won't post the results on this page in case you want to wait to

program and the first

The second long program,
also called the "Super Finals," takes place early Saturday
morning, and should be completed by 6am EST. After that time, if
you want to find the results, you should be able to find them from
the GPF
site. Before the competition is over, that page will probably
be blank.
As I wrote
earlier, Michelle will be skating to a new long program for
the Super Finals: The
Miraculous Mandarin. This program is choreographed by Peter Oppegard,
and I believe it is the first time he choreographed a program for
Michelle. This will definitely be shown on the Sunday broadcast
of the GPF, so don't forget to watch!
The
Grand Prix Final is this week, and according to the GPF's
official site, Michelle will be skating to a new long program
for her second free skate. The new program is The Miraculous Mandarin
by Béla Bartók. For more information on the story of the piece, check
out a post on the MK Forum. You can also listen to some clips
of the music from Amazon.com (just click on "Bartók: The
Miraculous Mandarin, etc" and then scroll down for the clips).
The
ladies portion of Skate Canada ended on Saturday. As always, I won't
post the results on this page in case you want to wait to see it on
TV. Find out the results
of the long program. Then, check out the following articles, reports,
and pictures from the long program.

Also, info on Michelle's
new long program! The majority is
"Song of the Black Swan." It is by Heitor Villa-Lobos and
Julian Lloyd Webber. I think that Villa-Lobos is the composer and
Webber is the performer of this piece (hopefully I'll find out for
sure during ABC's broadcast.) Listen
to a real audio clip of the song. Another part of the program
is the piece "Piano Trio 'Dumky' Op. 90, movement Lento Maestoso"
by Antonín Dvorák. You can listen
to a real audio clip of this song as well. Another piece may be
in her program, hopefully it will be identified after it is broadcast.
Since
the ladies long program has been shown on TV already, I can write
here that Michelle is the 2000 Skate America Champion. She has won
the competition the last 5 times she has entered. There are articles
about the competition in my 2000-01
Grand Prix Events articles section. Check
out the following pictures and media from the last day of the ladies
competition:

Black Swan

Also, don't forget that
Skate
Canada is later this week, where Michelle will be competing
against Irina Slutskaya.
Christy,
who also recently posted her great Skate
America photos, sent me some video of Michelle practicing at
Skate America. All clips are mpg, and they range from 104k to 232k
