Michelle recently
signed with Maxxis
tires. The company's site writes about the deal, "A
champion deserves only the best – and that’s why Maxxis was
a natural choice for figure skating champion Michelle Kwan.
Maxxis has announced a multi-year endorsement deal with Kwan.
The new relationship with the internationally renowned
Kwan is the latest step in Maxxis’ global branding efforts.
Maxxis is pleased to welcome Michelle Kwan to the Maxxis family
and wishes her the best in all of her upcoming skating competitions."
The day after the
Atlanta stop on the 2005 COI tour, Michelle visited and toured
the Maxxis U.S. Headquarters, in Suwanee, Georgia, on April
18. The tour lasted more than an hour, and Michelle was able
to meet with management and employees of the company. The
Maxxis site said that the visit,
"included a screening of the company video and a stop
at the showroom for a look at new Maxxis products. Maxxis
officials were pleased to welcome Kwan, and reported that
she was gracious and charming throughout her visit."
Maxxis has printed up four posters with Michelle (which can be seen online linked in the "Photos" section below), and sends them to Michelle fans for free, just by asking for the posters on the Maxxis site.
Update! In March 2007, it was announced that Michelle signed with the company for a third year. Maxxis said about the agreement, "Maxxis is proud to once again have the endorsement of the extraordinary Michelle Kwan, a skater whose devotion to excellence and record of achievement are admired the world over."
