HI Forum,

I can't believe this will be my first time writing to you all. Over the years I have bumped into most of you either on Champions on Ice, Competitions, appearances (even while I'm here in Hong Kong!) I hope you know how much your support has meant to me over the years. I don't have a website of my own because I don't believe I could do a better job than you have! It's funny because you guys are so on top of things with me that I have to go on this website to see "what I'm doing!" Hee hee... Thank you for the awesome gold ring from Gucci. I love it. I will cherish it forever! I've got to run (dad is waiting for me at the gym)

See you all soon,
love MK

Hi Everybody,
How are you? I've been meaning to write for some time now. I wanted to wait to the end of the tour before writing. I was completely shocked to receive the medal and scrap book.(Did you all choose Atlanta for any particular reason or hinting about Nationals?) I have yet to decide what I'll be doing next season. I guess I will try and take a little break before making any decisions.
I just want to tell you how touched I was when I got the humongous check for $10,000 to Children's Miracle Network.
You guys are the best!!
Thanks for everything.
Love, Michelle
P.S it was great seeing some of you guys backstage at Anaheim.
P.P.S if anybody is following the Stanley Cup finals...GO Ducks

I hope all of you are having a happy holiday season. I spent Christmas Eve with the WHOLE family. My baby niece, Sophia, was born November 30. She made it to her first family gathering. Sophia's big sister, Olivia, was doing spirals around her presents and received a standing ovation from everyone.
Thanks so much for all your messages and support over the last few months. It means the world to me. I know you are all concerned, but I have a great team around me and I couldn't be in better hands. Wishing you all the best in the New Year. I hope to see all of you soon.

Hi Everybody!
Phew...I made it out of Denver just before the blizzard. I hope everybody is having a great holiday. My sister Karen and her husband had an early Christmas party at their house. Unfortunately Karen and Peter will be going to the east coast to celebrate Christmas day with the other side of the family. It was so cute to see my two neices dance around the Christmas tree. Olivia is almost three years old and she is finally understanding the concept of Christmas. Her favorite thing is to help EVERYBODY open their presents. ha ha.....My parents gave Olivia and Sophia matching pink jacket with white fur trimming. It will be perfect for them when they go to the rink to skate!
I am planning to make Christmas Eve dinner at my house....I made a deal with my parents that if I cook they help clean up :D I am trying to enjoy all the time I have with my family and friends before I head out to Denver again. Winter quarter starts up pretty soon....then it's time to hit the books again.
My hip is feeling a lot better....shhhh....I snuck onto to the ice the other day!! I plan on getting back onto the ice soon. There's no work out like skating....I prefer the rink over the gym any day :)
I want to wish all of you a wonder Christmas and a fantastic New Year!! I miss seeing all of you!

Hi MKF!
I hope that everybody is having a wonderful holiday. This month has been really fun. I have spent quality time with my adorable neices Olivia and Sophia. They are growing up so fast. Olivia has already fallen in love with figure skating!! Last year I bought her a pair of skates, and she has definitely made good use of them. My sister and brother-in-law are celebrating the holidays in Tennessee. And my brother is in Denmark. So...this Christmas it will be me, my parents...and three doggies!!!
I head back to Denver for Winter Quarter soon. School has been a real good experience for me. Physically I am feeling 120%. I have been running, swimming, and yes...skating! I have been traveling a bit for the State Department. My next trip will be to Argentina!
I hope that you all have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
Miss you xoxo

Hi Everybody!! It's been a long time.... I am home for the holidays. It's fun to have a chance to see all my friends and family. It seems like everybody is having Christmas parties, and I have enjoyed going to them: ) Last night I was at our family rink for our yearly Christmas show. The skaters were so adorable, they were are dressed up in Christmas costumes. It gave me a chance to turn the usual traditional roles around, as I gave a flower to each skater as they came off the ice. They sure earned it!! I am really proud to have so many talented skaters at the rink.
I am not sure what I am going to do for the New Year, but I imagine it will be pretty busy. I hope you all have a pleasant and safe holiday season!!!
See you all soon!!

Hi MKF,
I hope you’re all ready for the holidays! I finally finished my last minute Christmas shopping for my friends and family. I didn’t have much time to prepare for the holidays since I was busy studying and writing papers for grad school. I didn’t finish my last final until Monday morning! And trust me I was very relieved when I finished my Econ final! I was a studious student and finished my U.S.-East Asia and Public Diplomacy paper early because I knew that the Econ exam would take all the brainpower that I needed to do OK. I absolutely love living in Boston and going to the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. The Fletcher community consists of people from all walks of life, each contributing their knowledge and experience to our school, and together we try to prepare ourselves to address key issues that we might face in the future…well, at least I think we all hope that we can make the world a better place: )
I am really happy to be home. For one thing, I get to watch Lakers games (I was there last night, when they beat Oklahoma City). And it’s also nice not having to put on 10 layers of clothing just to walk outside. Now I know why my sister Karen told me to buy a really really really good winter coat (she went to Boston University and has dealt with the chilly Boston weather).

In addition to my busy schedule at school, I’ve been able to pack in some really fun excursions. I was selected to be one of the Godmother’s of “Oasis of the Seas,” the greatest Royal Caribbean cruise ship (it even has an ice rink!). I was on the cruise ship for one night, where we launched off at Fort Lauderdale and sailed overnight. It was an absolutely incredible experience.

And before school even started I skated with Yu-Na Kim (current World
Champ) in Korea. I got a little emotional stepping back on the ice… I can’t believe it has been 3 years since I last performed in front of an audience. It reaffirmed everything that I love about figure skating…And I definitely look forward to performing in front of the U.S. audience again soon; )

On top of everything, I am also very committed to working with the State Department as an American Public Diplomacy Envoy. There “might” be an announcement soon about my next State Department trip (hint hint: ).
Well, it’s way past my bed…My family and I are headed out tomorrow to Hawaii for a small family vacation, R&R, and a close friend’s wedding. I hope all of you have an incredible Christmas and a Happy New Year! I wish all of you the best. I hope to see you all soon!
Take care! Hugs ,
MK

Happy Holidays everyone. I want to send you a little Seasons Greetings from rainy Southern California. It’s really nice to be home with the family. This is a rare Christmas for the Kwan family because everybody is home. It’s been a really busy year for me. I just got back from Singapore a couple of days ago. It was exciting because I was there for the Grand Opening of the Marina Bay Sands skating rink. The hotel is absolutely amazing.

It seems like I’ve been on the go for the last few months. As some of you know, I skated with YuNa Kim in September at the Staples Center. It was such a thrill to be back on the ice performing in my own backyard. I can’t believe that it had been 4 long years since my last performance in the U.S. I really do miss it!

But I realize that there’s so much I have found fulfilling outside skating. This year I was appointed as a member of the Presidents Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition. In June I had the pleasure to meet the First Lady, Michelle Obama, while she helped launch the President’s Council in conjunction with her Let’s Move! Initiative. I was also elected to the Special Olympics Board of Directors where I hope to continue to support an incredible organization that is near and dear to my heart. And of course I am now on the final stretch at grad school. I really have enjoyed my experience there. Now I am planning for what’s next?!

Even though I don’t often get to see my friends at MKF after shows and competitions I always feel your support.

I hope everybody has a safe and wonderful holiday season.

Hugs, MK

Dear MKF,

We always say it, but it’s always true: this year has gone so fast! Since my last post there has been a lot of changes. One of the biggest changes is my move to Washington DC after graduating from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts. I absolutely love living in our country’s capital – there’s constantly exciting things happening in DC. It also feels like a home away from home since many of my friends that studied International Relations both at the University of Denver and at the Fletcher School moved to the area.

I’m excited for Christmas and the coming New Year. Traditionally, our family waits till Christmas day to open presents, however, after last week I feel that I’ve already opened all my gifts. The first present that Santa gave me was a visit from Karen (my sis) and her daughters (Olivia and Sophia) to DC. We went to a variety of places, including: National Museum of Natural History, National Archives, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, National Gallery of Art Sculpture and Garden, and even a private tour of the White House. Although Olivia and Sophia loved sightseeing, their favorite activity was skating on the outdoor ice rink in the National Mall (maybe skating is in their genes! : )

Another cool gift I got from Santa was an invitation to the White House for a holiday party. It was nice to see the White House decorated with such a multitude of holiday festivities, and the best part was getting a chance to wish the President and First Lady a Merry Christmas!

This year has been full of new and exciting things – I can only wonder what 2012 will bring. As some of you may know, I will be inducted to the Skating Hall of Fame in January. I can’t imagine a more remarkable way to bring in the New Year than a big celebration with my family and friends around as I get inducted into the Hall of Fame. San Jose has special significance to me since it’s the place that I won my first national title – and soon it will come full circle, as it will be the place that I get inducted to the Hall of Fame.

I hope that I get a chance to say hello to some of you in San Jose, but if I don’t, I hope that you all have an amazing New Year.

Wishing MKF a wonderful holiday season!!

XO,

Michelle Kwan
